SENSITIVE VISUALS

This project started while riding the Redline Train line to and from work every day. I decided the trains were going to be my photography studio and I wanted to share my experiences while in transit. I was looking to better understand how people connected or didn't to each other while in the same space for 1, 2 or maybe 15 stops. I realized that I could manipulate my images to reflect my emotional experiences and understandings of my environment on the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The process of creating this series changed my life and the way I use a camera. I was able expand my emotional language of my camera through embracing movement, out of focus images and expanding to diptychs and triptychs when one frame was not enough. I was able to manipulate and re-ordering my visual environment to better understand my experience as well as imagine new ways of seeing myself and the worlds I share with others.
